New hope emerged Friday for a deal to prevent a strike by thousands of metro-area hospital workers next week.
The Capital District Health Authority and the NSGEU will go back to the table Saturday for the first time in a while.
On Friday, the Labour Minister appointed lawyer Bruce Outhouse as mediator in the dispute, which has been heading toward a Wednesday strike deadline.
“The mediator will bring new perspectives and views to the remaining issues as we head into the final days of a strike countdown,” said Minister Marilyn More “Mr. Outhouse has extensive experience dealing with complex and difficult disputes at the regional and national level, including disputes in the health sector.”
Outhouse called both sides and has arranged for the new talks at 11 am at the Holiday Inn in Dartmouth.
