Mooseheads drop game one with Oceanic

The home of the heard was rocking Friday night, but even a sold out Metro Centre couldn’t help the Mooseheads get past the Oceanic.
Jacob Gervais-Chouinard stopped 29 of 30 shots as the Rimouski Oceanic defeated the host Halifax Mooseheads 4-1 on Friday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoff action.
Petr Straka had a goal and an assist for the Oceanic, who have now won three straight games.
Casey Babineau, Alexandre Mallet and Scott Oke also scored for Rimouski.
Cameron Critchlow scored him 10th goal of the post season for the Mooseheads while Nathan MacKinnon failed to pick up a point after recording eight in his previous three outings.
MacKinnon said his team lacked energy.
“A pretty boring game I guess, we didn’t have tons of energy and it was just pretty sloppy,” explained MacKinnon. “We doubled their shots I think, and I thought we outplayed them for the majority of the game but obviously it wasn’t enough.”
He went on to say there needed to be more effort.
“I don’t think we had a great full 60 minutes, but at the end of the day you can’t win a series in one game,” he said.
Zachary Fucale allowed four goals on 14 shots in a losing effort.
Neither club could score with the power play as Rimouski went 0 for 3 and Halifax 0 for 6.
Game two goes tonight at Metro Centre starting at 7pm.
