Halifax’s young athletes will be lacing up their running shoes and slapping on sunscreen today in preparation for the Blue Nose Marathon.
3,300 young athletes will be taking part in the Doctors Nova Scotia Youth Run starting at 11am today at the Metro Centre.
The run starts on Sackville Street near the town clock and finishes in front of the Metro Centre.
Motorists are being cautioned to steer clear of Sackville, Summer, Trollope, Cogswell, Robie, Cunard, North Park, and Brunswick Streets.
Co-chair Jerry Walsh tells News 95.7, the weather is expected to be hot and sunny, unlike in previous years.
“It should warm up quickly, so it’s kind of the opposite of what we’ve been concerned about in previous years so we’re encouraging runners to listen to the forecast, wear sunscreen, drink plenty of water and protect themselves from the sunny weather,” he says.
There are also five runs happening Sunday as part of the Blue Nose Marathon.
