Blue Nose Marathon runners rush through Halifax

The Blue Nose Marathon is wound its way through Halifax and Dartmouth Sunday.

The sun was shining bright and runners at the start line called it one of the warmest days for the marathon that they can remember in a while, which isn’t always a good thing.

Hot weather during this year’s Boston Marathon had organizers warning everyone to take it easy on the course.

Bryden Tate came in first in the 10 kilometre with a time of 34 minutes, 13 seconds. The first woman to finish the 10k was Anna Von Maltzahn in at 41 minutes, 26 seconds.

Earlier, Mike Tate posted the fastest time in the 5k with a time of 16 minutes, 13 seconds. Emma Edmonds was the first woman to cross the line at 18 minutes, 31 seconds.

The finish line, which closes at 3pm, is near the town clock on Brunswick Street.

Drivers be warned – there will be delays, so check the Blue Nose website if you plan on heading downtown.
