Defense Minister and Nova Scotia MP Peter MacKay will be at the Irving Shipyard this morning for what his office is calling a milestone announcement in the National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy.
Metro Halifax reports its source says MacKay will announce that the federal government and Irving have reached a contract agreement.
It’s already been reported that Irving has an umbrella agreement with the federal government on the procurement strategy in a deal that sets out long-term arrangements for how individual ship contracts will be negotiated.
Postmedia reports the announcement might be a contract announcement of some sort on the arctic/offshore patrol vessels.
