Tall Ships set to sail away

By all indications, Tall Ships 2012 has been a smashing success!

Lineups were long, parking was scarce and organizers say there were several sellouts, including the Hey Rosetta! and Tall Ships Orchestra concerts, the Sunset Ceremony on Citadel Hill and boarding passes on Friday afternoon.

An economic impact assessment is underway to determine how much money flowed into HRM as a result of the festival.

The weather was perfect during the entire event which ends today with the Parade of Sail.

The Parade takes place in the harbour, starting at noon.

Waterfront Development Corporation president Colin McLean tells Metro there’s no bad spot around the harbour to watch the procession.

The ships will make a round of Georges Island go up the Dartmouth side, then turn around the Halifax Dockyard before heading out to sea.
