Feedback mostly positive at first Nova Centre meeting

If the first public consultation meeting on the new downtown convention centre is any indication, Halifax residents are quite excited about the mega-project.
The first of a series of meetings designed to solicit public opinion on the design of the Nova Centre was held in Halifax Monday night and most of the comments were positive.
Of the 60 people in attendance, 25 spoke to offer feedback on the $164 million project while another 125 people streamed the event online.
According to Metro Halifax, the common theme of the comments was the need for a spark to re-ignite downtown Halifax, and most speakers hoped the Nova Centre would fit the bill.
Opponents like Beverly Miller from the Coalition to Save the View said there’s very little positive about the project and called the format of the meeting a “whitewash.”
The next session is scheduled for Thursday night at the Halifax Seaport Farmer’s Market.
