Drought threatens crops in Annapolis Valley

We got a bit of rain late last week and over the weekend, but it may not be enough to save the season for some farmers in Nova Scotia.
Farmers in the Annapolis Valley are experiencing the worst drought in years.
Kings County farmer Richard Melvin says having so little rain is comparable to a big business having its electricity shut off for a month.
Melvin tells the Herald he’d like to have one or two inches of rain every week at this time of year – but July’s brought only a fraction of that, along with soaring temperatures.
Melvin installed an irrigation system during the last severe drought in the 1990s, but he says even that has barely been able to get him through the month.
