Warming trend continues into fall

The warmer and sunnier than normal temperatures Nova Scotia has experienced this summer are expected to continue into the autumn months.
Environment Canada is out with its latest long-range forecast and is predicting the above-average temperatures to continue.
“Our models are showing a continuation of the kind of good weather that you’ve been stuck on for the past year,” senior climatologist Dave Phillips told the Rick Howe Show Thursday.
He said the waters surrounding Nova Scotia are about four degrees warmer than normal and Phillips thinks that could increase the chance of seeing more storm and hurricane activity during the fall.
The peak hurricane period runs from the first week of September to the first week of October.
“But, my gosh, even two or three days of tropical activity wouldn’t ruin this fall,” said Phillips.
The first day of fall is Sept. 22.
