Halifax police seeking help in 13-year-old cold case

Police say they know there were witnesses to the 1999 murder of a 19-year-old man who have remained silent for 13 years.

Jason MacCullough was shot in the back of the head at point-blank range on Aug. 28, 1999. His body was found on a paved path, between two apartments in the 100-block of Pinecrest Drive in Dartmouth.

“We know that there were people in the area who are witness and they have not come forward, and we really want to keep the pressure on them to come forward,” Halifax Regional Police spokesperson Lauren Leal told News 95.7 Monday.

MacCullough was not involved in any criminal activity and his death is considered to be random, Leal said.

The Nova Scotia Department of Justice is offering up to $150,000 for information leading to an arrest in the case.
