Big celebration planned for Bluenose II re-launch

It’s been a project nearly two years in the making, and now we’re just days away from seeing the Bluenose II make her way back in to the Atlantic waters.
The re-launch is scheduled for Sept. 29 in Lunenburg.
“It’s a significant milestone that (The Bluenose II) is going back in the water,” says Bill Greenlaw with the province’s department of Communities, Culture and Heritage. “It symbolizes to Nova Scotians and those people in Lunenburg, celebrates out past, demonstrates what we can do today with regard to shipbuilding and also lets the world know, and Nova Scotians know, and Canadians know, what we’re capable of doing into the future.”
The town is planning a day-long celebration which will include musical performances and fireworks. Alan Doyle of Great Big Sea will be one of the headlining acts.
After launched, Bluenose II will be moored by the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic for the day of entertainment.
