Work on Bedford waterfront halted

Work has stopped on the Bedford Waterfront.

Almost from the very beginning, residents living in Bedford have expressed concerns about the project ranging from access to the waterfront to a lack of green space.

Tuesday, the Corporation announced  it would step back in order to sit down with residents and get their input on the plan.

Kelly Regan is the MLA for Bedford-Birch Cove and says she is happy the moratorium has been brought into effect.

Regan says “The people weren’t happy with it and we hear that at that final meeting.”

Residents want to see some of the green space that was in the original plan consolidated into a bigger area to ensure access to the water.

Regan agrees with HRM Councillor Tim Outhit who has suggested that a public building be included in the new plan for all residents to enjoy.
