Teen hospitalized after crash

A teen is in hospital after being struck by a vehicle in a Dartmouth crosswalk, Monday evening.

Police responded to the intersection of Pleasant and Carleton streets around 9 p.m. to find a 19-year-old with life-threatening injuries.

“EHS was on scene quickly and the pedestrian was taken to the QE2 hospital with injuries that are considered to be life threatening,” Staff Sgt. Reid McCoombs said in a media release Tuesday.

The vehicle apparently had been travelling southbound on Pleasant Street prior to the crash. The 56-year-old driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was not injured.

The Halifax Regional Police Accident Investigation team as well as the Forensic Identification Section are investigating. No charges have been laid.
