News 95.7 is not predicting much change when the Utility and Review Board resets fuel prices at midnight, with prices expected to stay near $1.34/litre of self-serve for another week.
Diesel users however, may see a price drop.
George Murphy with Consumers For Fair Gas Prices told The Rick Howe show, diesel fuel is expected to drop by 2.5 cents a litre.
“That’s a little bit of good news, I guess, for our trucker friends out there and anybody who’s got a diesel powered vehicle. It’s nice to see a welcome break,” said Murphy.
Murphy predicts homeowners may even pay less to stay warm in the coming months because of warmer than expected temperatures.
“The climate in the ocean, just offshore, with temperatures about four degrees over and above what they were the year previous. That’s possibly going to keep things a little bit warmer than usual, so perhaps demand for distiller fuels, particularly for heating fuels are going to be down a bit,” said Murphy.
Across the border in New Brunswick, the regulated maximum price for gasoline fell overnight by 3.6 cents a litre to $1.34. In the unregulated Toronto market, gas prices were expected to go up by two cents with a litre of gas selling for $1.26.8 in the greater Toronto area.
