Nova Scotia’s premier met with municipal leaders in flood-plagued Truro Friday to talk about taking steps to protect the community from rising waters.

The province is still repairing a damaged berm that flood waters breached in four spots during flooding earlier this month.

However, Darrell Dexter says a long-term plan is needed for the area to reduce future flooding damage when there are heavy rains.

The mayors and province have set up a working group to address flooding and “the impact of global warming” in the Truro area.
