RCMP are still investigating what caused a vehicle to roll several times on Highway 102 near Elmsdale Thursday night, ejecting a passenger.
The woman in the passenger’s seat was pronounced dead at the scene while the man in the driver’s seat was taken to the QEII Health Sciences Centre with minor injuries.
“We do know that the vehicle veered from the right lane, across the left, crossing over both lanes, across the shoulder into the median and flipped several times, but we’re not sure how many times,” Staff Sgt. Gerald Grobmeier told News 95.7.
The accident happened in the southbound, or inbound, lane between Exits 7 and 8 at around 8:17 p.m. The crash closed Exit 8 until about 1 a.m. as police investigated the scene. A traffic analyst has been called to assist in the investigation.
Grobmeier said it’s too early to say whether the victim was wearing her seatbelt. No names have been released.
