Sandy To Give Nova Scotia A Pass

Nova Scotians can rest easy as the latest tropical storm gains strength in the Carribean.

Tropical Storm Sandy is expected to grow into a Category One storm as it approaches the Island of Jamaica.

From there the track has the storm brushing Cuba before heading up the East Coast of North America.

News 95.7’s meterologist Richard Zurawski has been watching the storm very closely, and says the storm will not make landfall in the Maritimes.

“We will probably see some of the effect on Monday and Tuesday as it skirts by the southern waters of the maritimes and it will give us some cloud” said Zurawski “We are going to see some surf and some rain”.

Sandy is likely to link up with a large low pressure system that is over North America which will increase the amount of rain we can expect.

With the storm zeroing on Jamaica, Air Canada has cancelled flights to the nation’s capital of Kingston and the Government of Canada is urging people to avoid non-essential travel.
