Area business concerned after Bayers Lake shooting

Some business owners in the popular Bayers Lake Business Park are worried a late night shooting will negatively impact their business.

Police are now looking for suspects after several bullets were fired from one vehicle into another on Chain Lake Drive near Suzie Lake Crescent around 10 p.m. Wednesday night.

No one was injured.

Chris Webster of Minute Man Press says his patrons are talking about what happened.

“I just don’t want my customers to be afraid to come to the Minute Man, you know?  I want them to still come in and know they can get their printing done and not have to worry about crazies driving the streets,” he says. “That’s my main concern, so I just hope they catch the people and prove that it wasn’t random, for the sake of my clientele and my business.”

Speaking to some shoppers in the area, one woman standing outside the HomeSense store near where the shooting happened says the violence is not exclusive to Bayers Lake.

“It can happen anywhere,” says Diana. “You know today, it is happening everywhere here. There isn’t any good place or any bad place anymore. It used to be that if you lived in a certain area, it was a safe area. But now, it’s everywhere.”

Some are calling for more police in the area.
