Savage releases campaign contributions

The much talked about list of contributors to Mike Savage’s campaign for mayor is now public.

The question of who donated to the front-runner’s efforts was one that dogged Savage throughout the campaign, and now the Mayor-Elect has lived up to a promise and published the names.

452 businesses, organizations and individuals show up in the document, showing they collectively contributed a total of $342, 370.99.

According to his website, Savage did not accept any individual donation bigger than $5,000 during the run up to October’s election.

Some of the notables on the list include a $5,000 donation from United Gulf Development.

United Gulf Development is the company behind the Skye Halifax project — a controversial development plan that would see twin 48-storey residential towers built on Granville Street.

John K.F Irving also appears on the list. He is a president in the Irving Group of Companies, that includes the branch that owns and operates the Irving Shipyard in Halifax.

A number of prominent members of the Federal Liberal party also show up in the document, including leadership hopeful Justin Trudeau and New Brunswick MP Dominic Leblanc.

Halifax MP Megan Leslie and Halifax West MP Geoff Regan also appear on the list.

The complete list is available at Savage’s website  www.mikesavage.ca
