North end stabbing

A woman is under arrest, but no charges have been laid after a man was stabbed in a Gottingen Street apartment in the city’s north end.

Police were called to an apartment unit in the 2400 block of Gottingen Street at 4 a.m. Wednesday.

A 68-year-old man with a minor stab wound was found at the residence. He has been treated for a non-life threatening injuries by Emergency Health Services.

“We were given information, while on scene, regarding a suspect. Our members quickly contained the building in short order. They managed to arrest a 59-year-old female who was quickly taken into custody,” Staff Sgt. Lindsay Hernden told News 95.7.

Speaking to police shortly after the incident took place, police said it was too early to say whether the two people involved were strangers or whether this was a domestic dispute.

Hernden said it’s also too early to know if charges will be laid against the woman in custody.

“We have to make sure, first of all, that the 68-year-old male victim is prepared to proceed with criminal charges,” he said. “We still have some evidence that we need to collect. It’s our hope that when it’s all said and done that charges will be laid.”
