Police investigating two stabbings in two days

Halifax Regional Police are investigating a stabbing and a home invasion last night in Dartmouth.

Last night’s stabbing was the second in as many days for police.

Staff Sgt. Reid McCoombs said a 19-year-old man showed up at Dartmouth General Hospital just after 9 p.m. suffering from a stab wound.

McCoombs said it appears the incident happened in the campground area of Shubie Park.

“Apparently the victim was there with some friends, they were approached by some other males, there was an altercation and the victim ended up with a stab wound. The victim’s injuries are considered to be non-life threatening,” McCoombs told News 95.7.

Police are investigating the possibility everyone involved knew each other.

McCoombs said police also don’t believe a Saturday night stabbing on Wyse Road was random. An 18-year-old man stabbed in the torso is believed to have been released from hospital.

In another incident last night, that police believe was targeted, a man was assaulted in a home invasion in the 100 block of Primrose Street in Dartmouth.

The 42-year-old suffered lacerations to his head after two men forced their way in.

Police say the victim is cooperating with the investigation.
