Tuxedo Stan’s health is failing

The health of a famous Halifax feline doesn’t look good.

Despite rounds of chemo, Tuxedo Stan’s tumor is growing again and now, his kidney is starting to fail. Owner Hugh Chisholm says the black and white cat is in good spirits, but his appetite has been slowing down. In January, they discovered a large mass in his abdomen, which turned out to be a cancerous tumor on his left kidney. Since that time, the 2 1/2 year old cat has undergone chemo therapy treatments and has received support from fans across the world.

Stan became famous during last fall’s municipal election when he ran for mayor to raise awareness about the plight of stray cats in the city. The cat lost to Mike Savage. Stan has been endorsed by talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and CNN’s Anderson Cooper.
