Foul play not suspected in death of inmate at Halifax jail found in cell

HALIFAX – Nova Scotia’s Justice Department says a 41-year-old inmate has died at a Halifax jail but foul play is not suspected.
The unidentified man was discovered unresponsive in his cell at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility on Sunday around 4:30 p.m.
Paramedics were called to the scene and the man was pronounced dead about 15 minutes later.
The department says the man’s family has been notified, but his name and age were not released.
A department spokeswoman says the man was admitted on May 31 after he was charged with possession of child pornography.
The jail, located in the Halifax suburb of Dartmouth, is a 272-bed facility housing both men and women.
