Another price jump at the pump

Gas went up another 3.9 cents a litre overnight in Nova Scotia, about a cent less than expected.

Drivers flooded gas stations around Metro Halifax Thursday night to fill up, ahead of the expected price bump.

Regular self-serve is now $1.39.8, up from $1.35.9 last week.

Over the last two weeks, gas has gone up a total of 10.3 cents a litre.

The price of diesel remained unchanged this week at $1.26.4 a litre.

Conflicts in the Middle East are being blamed for the price increase on top of already high prices due to higher demand by summer travelers.

Oil was trading at a 16-month high Friday morning at $108.20 U.S. a barrel, up 12 per cent so far this month.

GasBuddy.com says the average price of regular across Canada has risen to almost $1.36 a litre – up 3.5-cents from a week ago. In Montreal and Vancouver, regular self-serve is selling for just under $1.50 a litre.
