Planning and Design Centre hosts regional plan brainstorming session

Dozens of concerned citizens from all over HRM met Monday night to express their concerns, wants, and desires for Halifax Regional Municipality’s 5-year plan.
They shared their ideas about transportation, the environment, and HRM’s growth strategy.
The Planning and Design Centre’s chair Frank Palermo says he’s surprised that so many people from all walks of life were able to come together and share their ideas for the region.
“The decisions we make now in this regional plan, the direction that’s set up, is really going to affect all of us in a really powerful way”, he said.
Palermo plans to set up a store front in the coming months to give everyone an opportunity to share their vision for HRM.
“We’ve really got to get this message out, that the regional plan matters”, he said.
The ideas stemming from this and all future sessions will be presented to council for consideration for the regional plan which goes to public hearings this fall.
