TransCanada Corp give highly-anticipated pipeline project green light

SAINT JOHN, N.B. – It’s exactly the news New Brunswick has been waiting for.
TransCanada has given the green light to its’ Energy East Pipeline Project.
The Telegraph Journal is reporting the energy giant is expected to make the announcement this afternoon.
The pipeline still needs regulatory approval before it moves forward.
The project will see Alberta crude oil pumped through the company’s 3,000 kilometre natural gas pipeline to Quebec.
TransCanada will then construct a 1,400 kilometre pipeline extension to Saint John.
Construction of the pipeline extension is slated to begin in 2016 with the pipeline to the Irving Oil refinery in place by 2018.
