Outrage on social media after python kills two N.B. boys

People are taking to social media, after a python strangled and killed two small New Brunswick boys.

The boys were killed in an apartment above an exotic pet shop in Campbellton, NB, on Monday.

After the horrific death of the five and seven-year-old, concerned citizens began expressing their outrage on Reptile Oceans Facebook page, the store from which the python escaped from.

After a statement from the business expressing its sympathy for the family of the boys, Reptile Oceans swiftly removed its entire page because of “demeaning comments.” They went on to say “attacks on the animal’s owner are unnecessary.”

Deputy Mayor Ian Comeau said residents of the city are shocked at the deaths.

He said the city will be co-operating with the police investigation.

“We will provide some information to the RCMP tomorrow (Tuesday) in regards to our by-laws which allow such a business to operate in our city and from there, try and see what we can do,” said Comeau.

Police said it’s believed the snake entered the apartment through the ventilation system sometime during the night

An autopsy is expected to be completed today.
