A snake killing a human is rare, but a snake killing two humans is almost unheard of. That’s from Shawn Heflick, the star of the television series The Python Hunters.
Heflick has 30 years experience dealing with snakes like the rock python, and tells News 95.7 he finds it difficult to understand how something like the attack in New Brunswick could have happened.
“It’s a very tragic and rare occurrence that almost never happens,” said Heflick. “It’s very uncharacteristic for a snake to kill a human. It’s extremely outside the norm.”
Heflick says in most cases, a python will try to avoid human contact all together, but will strike if it’s cornered.
He’s asking everyone to wait until all of the details of what happened come out of the investigation before coming to any kind of conclusion.
