Hundreds attend funeral for N.B. brothers killed by python

CAMPBELLTON, N.B. – Two brothers killed by a snake in northern New Brunswick have been remembered for how close they were and their love of video games and playing outdoors.

Funeral services were held in Campbellton yesterday for four-year-old Noah Barthe and his six-year-old brother Connor. Family friends Melissa Ellis and Nadine Poirier eulogized the boys together. They remembered Connor’s bear hugs and how Noah told his preschool teacher that he wanted to be a basketball player when he grew up.  Poirier described how Connor was protective of his little brother, always watching out for him.

The two boys were found dead Monday morning in an apartment above an exotic pet store. A 45-kilogram African rock python escaped its enclosure in the apartment and asphyxiated the boys as they slept.
