More than $20 million worth of funding announcements this week from the NDP suggests an election call is right around the corner.
There are advantages to calling an election right now, the vote would happen before the NDP’s promised financial update at the end of next month.
But Corporate Research Associates spokesperson, Don Mills, says their last poll shows the NDP could be in trouble.
“The gap between the Liberals and the NDP based on the last poll was quiet large, there was about a 19 point gap,” said Mills.
He adds for the first time in a while, the polls show the NDP are vulnerable in metro, as are the seats they won in mainland Nova Scotia in the last election.
“If you look at the economy in rural Nova Scotia, it’s really been devasted since 2008 – a lot of job loss,” explained Mills.
He adds that’s not the NDP’s fault, but they’ll be blamed.
