Jury selection begins in Eisnor murder trial

BRIDGEWATER, N.S. – Jury selection begins today in the first degree murder trial of a Nova Scotia man accused of fatally shooting his estranged wife then shooting himself.
Wayne Paul Eisnor of Barss Corner is accused of shooting Tina Mae Eisnor twice in the head while she was in a car outside a grocery store in New Germany in June 2010.
He then turned the gun on himself.
The 50-year-old suffered brain damage as a result of self-inflicted gunshot wound.
His mental fitness to stand trial has been an ongoing issue ever since.
In a final decision last month, the Nova Scotia Supreme Court ruled Eisnor was fit to stand trial on a first-degree murder charge even though he is suffering from some amnesia.
The judge said Eisnor may not be able to relate details of the events involving his wife, but that alone shouldn’t prevent him from going to trial.
More than two weeks have been set aside for the trial in Bridgewater.
