Body found in Halifax harbour

Police say a tip from the public has led them to a body in Halifax Harbour.

“At 2:40 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of an object floating in Halifax Harbour,” said Halifax Regional Police Constable Pierre Bourdages. “With the help of a Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency boat, the object was determined to be a human body.”

Emergency personnel and the medical examiner office worked on Wednesday afternoon to remove the body from the water.

Police said the gender of the body and the cause of death are unknown.
