Alderney Ferry Terminal getting an upgrade

The Alderney Ferry Terminal Plaza is getting a facelift.

Starting today, work will start to remove red brick pavers, replace timber decking and concrete thoroughfare, as well as new lighting, benches and plants.

“The original work was done in 1980,” explained HRM spokesperson Janet Bryson. “It has passed its life span. It’s breaking, it’s uneven… we’re doing this for safety reasons. It is also a widely visited area by both residents and visitors, and we want it to look attractive.”

The work will cost $403,000 and will be completed at the end of December.

“Fencing will be put up to ensure the safety of pedestrians, moving around or through temporary work spaces near the terminal,” added Bryson.
