The battle rages on between a downtown Halifax mom and the city.
Christine Davison says HRM is trying a new tactic to have her remove the controversial fence she constructed around the yard of her heritage home.
“The city has decided to try and use a different by-law against me,” explained Davison. “Originally, we were having an issue with heritage. Then heritage realized they weren’t really getting what they wanted out of using the heritage act.”
Davison adds now the city is trying to use the by-law ‘encroaching on municipal property,’ saying the fence is on its property by three inches. She says the city’s using this new tactic because she’s been working to change a piece of the heritage act to include a section on health and safety so those who own heritage homes can easily make changes to their property.
Davison put up the fence earlier this summer in an attempt to protect her children from needles, bottles and other dangerous goods she would find on the lawn.
