Today is the first day you can get a free flu shot from your pharmacist.
Pharmacy manager Cathy Hunter says this process will save you time from waiting to get the flu vaccine from your doctor.
“We went under some training when the legislation came out,” explained Hunter. “We’ve all received injection permits.”
Mayor Mike Savage didn’t hesitate to get his first flu shot of the season.
“I get a flu shot every year,” said Savage. “I think it does save money on the health care system, it’s an easy think to do and you get a sucker.”
Some pharmacies are taking appointments but most are accepting walk-ins. Pharmacists already deliver the vaccine in New Brunswick, Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia.
The height of flu season runs from now until January.
