Halifax Pop Explosion to hit city this weekend

It’s that time of year again, where hundreds of bands descend upon the city for Halifax Pop Explosion.
The annual event is underway and is promising to be the biggest and best edition yet.
The idea behind Halifax pop explosion is to bring bands that wouldn’t normally play in the city, along with homegrown talent to give music lovers lots of choices.
Johnny Stevens is the executive director for the event, he says this year people are really getting behind the festival and it’s lineup.
“Sales are up probably over 60% from where they were last year,” said Stevens.
Stevens said you can catch a pair of free shows downtown this year.
“We’ve got two free concerts happening at Grande Parade Square on Friday and Saturday,” said Stevens.
