A 92-year-old man has died following a house fire in Halifax’s north end.
Fire crews responded to the blaze in the 36-hundred block of Acadia Street around 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
Neighbours could hear the man’s cries for help from the home’s second-storey, but heavy, black smoke prevented them from reaching him.
Deputy Fire Chief Roy Hollett said the man was not responsive when he was taken out of the building, and he was taken to hospital by EHS.
He died last night.
Police say his cause of death remains undetermined pending the outcome of an autopsy.
His name has not been released.
Police and fire investigators are still trying to determine what started the fire.
