Pump prices drop more than expected

A bigger than expected drop in the price of gasoline in Nova Scotia.

Regulated prices dropped by 2.5 cents a litre at midnight to a new maximum price of $126.3.

The change means a 50-litre fill-up is $1.25 cheaper today than it was yesterday.

A similar drop in the price of diesel fuel. The regulated minimum price fell by 2.5 cents a litre to $132.7.

One year ago, we were paying $1.20 for gas and $1.32 for diesel. Oil was trading at $86.05 U.S. a barrel, much less than yesterday’s closing price of $97.11.
