How to have a devilishly delightful Halloween

Witches, ghosts and goblins and yes, even a few Miley Cyrus’ mean it’s Halloween and the streets will soon be crawling with all kinds of different creeps!

Once the ghoul day, er, school day is done it’s time for mummies and daddies to take their little terrors [it’s ok to call them that today] trick-or-treating!

HRP spooks – – spokesperson Theresa Rath told News 95.7, parents with little monsters should stay with them and they should discuss the route bigger monsters who don’t need an adult are taking and when they’ll return to the crypt.

“For trick-or-treaters themselves, we really remind them go down one side of the street, cross once, and then go down the other side,” she said. “We don’t want people criss-crossing the street. We also want to remind them never, ever go inside the house, apartment or car of someone they don’t know.”

Rath has some suggestions for crypt keepers as well.

“We ask homeowners to keep their porch light on, keep their doors clear and accessible and don’t give out homemade snacks,” she said.

As for those snacks, Rath say you should always check your kids’ candy haul to make sure it hasn’t been tampered with.

If you’re looking for a safe, fun place to take the kids, residents in Dartmouth are holding their sixth annual Halloween event at 61 Hastings Drive.

Former council candidate Bill Zebedee said six houses and the local church are getting in on the action, where everyone dresses up and decorates the home with a specific theme.

In the past, the themes have been zombies, pirates, hippies and even The Flintstones but this year they’re boldly going where no man has gone before with a Star Trek theme

Zebedee said trick-or-treaters should stop by any time after 5 p.m.

“It’s a one-stop candy handout shop for kids,” he said. “A lot of kids aren’t going to recognize who Captain Kirk or the Klingons are from the old series of Star Trek. I get more of a kick out of the responses from the adults.”

More than 150 people, dead and alive, showed up last year.
