Two Halifax schools broken into in separate incidents

Regional police have two in custody in separate school break-ins.

Just after one o’clock yesterday morning police were alerted to a break in at J.L. Isley in Spryfield.

When they arrived they found an open door with a bicycle parked nearby.

The school was surrounded a few minutes later they caught a 17-year-old trying to get away.

The teen was found with $45 in envelopes police say he got from the school.  He now faces break and enter charges.

In the second incident, police were called to the Halifax Grammar School after an alarm sounded.

Before they arrived, police received a tip from a nearby resident that a suspicious man was lurking around their backyard.

Police caught up with that man on Tobin Street and when they found a laptop under his sweatshirt, took him into custody.

The 37-year-old is facing a number of charges including break and enter.
