SIRT investigating fatal crash

BLOCKHOUSE, N.S. – The province’s Serious Incident Response Team has been called in to investigate a fatal collision near Blockhouse, Nova Scotia Friday evening.

A 23-year-old man from Lunenberg County died in the crash after an RCMP officer tried to pull him over for suspected speeding.

The crash happened around 5:15 p.m. when the Mountie attempted to pull over a car for speeding, but the driver sped away, ended up crossing the road into the ditch and then hit a tree.

The driver was pronounced dead on the scene.

The serious response team is probing the accident because it involved police.
