Major storm moves into Atlantic Canada

The wind and rain is here courtesy of an intense low-pressure system that formed earlier this week in the Gulf of Mexico.
Strong wind and rainfall warnings have been issued for much of the Maritimes.
News 95.7 meteorologist Richard Zurawski said you can expect a very wet, blustery day.
“Winds will be gusting from 80 to 100 kilometres an hour and we’re looking at rainfall amounts that will be approaching 80 millimetres of rain by the time it’s all over,” explained Zurawski.
He added we’re also seeing very mild temperatures with a high of 14 degrees expected today.
Other areas of the country are not so lucky, parts of Ontario and Quebec could get between 10 and 25 centimetres of snow.
The storm has also caused travel headaches for many in the United States.
Halifax Stanfield International Airport VP of Corporate Communcations Peter Spurway said the weather here could cause some problems, but it’s the weather elsewhere that will cause the big delays.
“The airplane routes are all connected,” said Spurway. “In order for your airplane to go from here to wherever, it has to get here. That’s the consideration that airline operations people will be looking at for the next couple of days.”
Your best bet is to monitor the weather in the city you’re going to and check your flight status before heading to the airport.
