Yarmouth mayor looking forward to ferry’s return

Yarmouth is preparing for the return of daily ferry service to Maine.
Everything is on schedule for a May 1 start date.
It’s been a difficult process to get the ferry going again, and Yarmouth mayor Pam Mood said the years without the ferry have had a big impact on the province, and her city.
“Like most places, we have our family members moving west to get work, we have businesses closing down that were based on the Tourism Department, things like that,” said Mood.
Mood said it’s a magical moment now that the return is imminent.
“Everybody can breathe a little bit easier, smiles on faces, a little bit more hope to maybe open businesses, look forward to the future,” said Mood. “It’s just a plus all the way around. Just a different vibe.”
She adds work on the ferry terminal hasn’t started yet, but the federal government will be paying the bulk of the money to make sure it’s ready.
