Nova Scotia ombudsman retiring

HALIFAX, N.S. – Nova Scotia’s ombudsman is retiring.

Dwight Bishop will leave his position December 31 after serving the province nearly a decade.

Bishop, a lawyer and a former commanding officer for the RCMP in Nova Scotia, was appointed to the office in 2004 and again in 2009.

In his final report last week he called for more funding and staff, saying vulnerable people would be better served if the
ombudsman’s services were broadened.
