Six arrested in drug, gun bust including suspended Halifax Rainmen player

Halifax police have charged six people, and seized drugs and gun in connection to Operation Indict, a five week long investigation targeted street-level drug trafficking in the Halifax area.

Over the last two days, officers assigned to the HRP/RCMP Integrated Guns and Gangs Unit executed several search warrants in Halifax at apartments and homes on Kent Street, Connors Lane, Abbey Road and Auckland Place.

The searches netted cocaine, marijuana and a loaded handgun.

Those arrested include 23-year-old Marcus James, 27-year-old Juwauwn States, 26-year-old Eben Carvery, 25-year-old Ashley Lorde, 21-year-old Geno Clayton and 27-year-old Tyler Richards.

Richards name may ring a bell because he’s the suspended Halifax Rainmen player already in hot water after an alleged sexual assault incident at Taboo nightclub last week.

Police say the operation is on-going and additional arrests and charges are anticipated.
