Influenza A case confirmed in Cape Breton

Health authorities in Cape Breton are reporting the region’s first case of influenza A.

The Cape Breton District Health Authority says it’s not too late to get a flu shot.

The district’s medical officer of health says the best way to get a vaccination is to check with a family doctor, local pharmacy or the local public health office.

Dr. Monika Dutt is reminding residents that proper handwashing is the first line of defence against getting the virus.
