Kirwan murder trial focuses on fingerprints

PICTOU, N.S. – The trial of a Nova Scotia man accused of murdering a 19-year-old woman in 2011 has heard extensive testimony about fingerprints and toxicology.

Christopher Alexander Falconer is facing a charge of first-degree-murder.

He is accused of fatally stabbing Amber Kirwan in October 2011, about a month before her bound and naked body was found in a muddy, shallow grave near New Glasgow.

Crown attorney Bill Gorman told the thirteen jurors Tuesday that an autopsy revealed Kirwan had between ten and 100 times the therapeutic amount of codeine in her blood stream.

As well, the jurors heard that Falconer’s fingerprints were found on and inside a car that was seized by police.

Toxicologist Lori Campbell is expected resume her testimony on Wednesday.
