Brad Jacobs skips Canada to 7-6 win over Denmark; now 3-2

SOCHI, Russia – Canada has improved to 3-2 in men’s curling at the Sochi Winter Games following a 7-6 victory Thursday over Denmark (2-3).
Skip Brad Jacobs and his rink from Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., scored two in the fourth and sixth ends.
Danish skip Rasmus Stjerne Hansen got one back in the seventh to cut the deficit to 5-4 but Jacobs replied in the eighth to make it 6-4.
Hansen tacked on two more in the ninth to tie the game before Canada scored in the final end to seal the much-needed victory.
Jacobs had opened with an 11-8 wn over Germany, but lost back-to-back games to Switzerland and Sweden before defeating Russia 7-4 on Wednesday.
Canada is the two-time defending men’s Olympic curling champion. Edmonton’s Kevin Martin won gold in 2010 in Vancouver, while Brad Gushue of St. John’s, N.L., was victorious at the 2006 Turin Games.
