Gas prices expected to jump at midnight

Gas prices are on their way up again.

Our newsroom is predicting the price of gas will jump by about 3 cents a litre at midnight.

George Murphy from Consumers for Fair Gas Prices told News 95.7 new pipeline capacity has led to an increase in the price of oil.

“We’re seeing West Texas Intermediate start to gain in price because, of course, some of the pipeline infrastructure has opened up now and they’re actually able to get some of this stuff out to the Gulf of Mexico and start exporting it,” explained Murphy.

Murphy added the lower value in the Canadian dollar is also impacting wholesale prices.

Gas prices are up in New Brunswick this morning, the price for regular self-serve jumped by 2.3 cents a litre to a new maximum price of $134.9.
