A 21-year-old Halifax man is facing charges after seriously assaulting another man on a Metro Transit bus.

Police say it happened just before 2:30 p.m. yesterday on Herring Cove Road near Williams Lake.

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived, but they were able to identify him from a bus surveillance video.

He was arrested nearby at his home.

Police say the incident was not random and the two men knew each other.

The victim was treated at the scene for cuts to his face.
